Google Buys YouTube for GooTube
YouTube was up for sale and there have been a ton of blogs which have been talking about it, but it seems that Michael Arrington’s post was the one which got the rumor spreading through the blogosphere. Most people know that Google Video has ended up buying YouTube.
Shoemoney makes a couple of valid points which I would like to press upon:
1. Obviously YouTube is one of the biggest video networks out there, but when merging with
2. Google Video (which is definitely one of the top five video networks at the moment) it would obviously make Google the biggest video network.
Keep Microsoft from advertising on YouTube, since they had an offer to place their adverts on YouTube.
3. Google has enough bandwidth sitting around (or so most believe) and since YouTube consumes a ton of bandwidth, it wouldn’t be a problem!
Well it has been officially announced a few days ago that Google will buy YouTube for $1.65 billion in stocks. I think this is an amazing move and it just shows how much a website can grow in a year or so.
I think Google would probably place adverts in the beginning of each video for the AdWords advertisers which use videos. Maybe they might do a bidding system so advertisers could bid on a specific video.
Now we only need to wait a little bit more to see what Google has in mind for their newly acquired website!
In the meantime, I’m going to put YouTube under the Google Category on Modern SEO News and do a 301 Redirect for the search engines.
