Doctor Says Surfing XXX is OK

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — More and more citizens of the Malaysian state of Kelantan are surfing for triple-X websites, bucking the trend in the mostly conservative country.
Studies show that surfers in Kelantan topped the list of surfers who frequented pornographic websites. Popular searches include "nudity," "nude pictures," "sex with Malaysians" and "sex stories."
Despite some conservative alarm at these studies, Malaysian psychologist Jas Laile Suzana Jaafar says that the behavior is perfectly normal, especially in a place where there are sexually oppressive politics at play.
"If a teenager was the one who searched for it, it is normal because of puberty, and he has to learn about sexuality to understand the changes they experience," she said. "If teenagers ask their parents or peers, how much information can they get? In Kelantan, parents are not open to talking about sexuality with their children."
Jaafar said that some studies suggest that surfing for adult sites can be addicitve, but she added that the studies didn't tell the whole story.
