Top 10 "Most Wanted" Spammers List Released

The World's 10 Worst Spammers list has been published by spam/industry expert Spamhaus this week from its ROKSO (Register of Known Spam Operations) database. This database is used by countless ISPs to help its customers avoid inboxes full of spam e-mail, as well as by global law enforcement agencies who have used the data to help with investigations and prosecutions.The 2006 list features spammers from Russia, the United States, Israel, Canada and Hong Kong. The #1 offender however, is Ukrainian Alex Blood - AKA Alexander Mosh, AlekseyB and Alex Polyakov. Blood made the top of the Worst List because of his penchant for child porn spam and his extreme use of botnets. Insiders say that Blood also has strong associations with a Russian Spam Gang known worldwide as Pavka/Artofit.Other interesting tidbits that came from the report show that approximately 80% of the spam sent worldwide is generated by a handful of spammers - a small group of no more than 200 professional full-time spammers. Not only do these folks send unwanted "spam" e-mail, but they also send illegal mails containing offensive products and services such as child pornography.
